I started making Elebeads bracelets as a creative outlet, and as a way to show my support and raise awareness for the dwindling elephant population.
With no real business plan, I decided to start selling Elebeads at craft fairs and a few small shops. It has been amazing to experience growing a small business, and the best part is that I get to stay true to the creative spirit of my product.
I am so thankful for my amazing customers and shop owners who support and encourage me to keep making my bracelets. There are days I wonder, "why am I doing this"? Then I hear from a customer how much they love their Elebeads or I get a referral from someone who saw an Elebeads bracelet on their friend's wrist and then place an order.
I have always loved elephants. According to an article in National Geographic, "elephants help each other in distress, grieve for their dead and feel the same emotions as each other- just like us". It is hard to imagine a world without elephants. But according to conservationists, the world is in real danger of losing these incredible animals. In 2008, conservationists warned that the African elephant would become extinct by 2020 if widespread poaching continues. Please help me to support the elephants and raise awareness and understanding of these magnificent creatures!
